Plan a Visit This Weekend to The Barnacle Historic State Park

September, 21st 2021

The mission of The Barnacle Historic State Park is to invite guests to remember a simpler time. This local gem is situated in the historic Coconut Grove area, right on the stunning shores of Biscayne Bay. Honestly, this time of year is the perfect time to visit for ideal weather to get out and explore the area without the heat.

The highlight of the park is the beautiful historic home located on the property that dates all the way back to 1891. It’s a look into how Floridians lived the frontier life for many years. The individuals who run the park do a great job of keeping the environment as authentic and historic as possible, so you get a true feel for what it really was like for Floridians of the past. Depending on the time of the season, you can also attend special events on the property, like Shakespeare in the Park and The Haunted Ballet around Halloween time. If you want to go on any other day they have fun geocaching activities, plenty of trails for hiking, and great spots for picnics.

Admission fees are affordable at only $2 per person, and you’ll want to keep in mind they’re only open from Sunday through Wednesday, so they’re not open on the weekends.
